PDFING NEWSLETTER NO 19 - August 2006 ===================================== The launch of PDFing v3.1 was particularly trouble free and we thank all the beta team who made this happen. However, the latest version (v3.1.0.8) is now available at: http://www.pdfing.com/down and fixes the following bugs: PDFing v3.1 now runs correctly under NT4. Other "rare" bugs in the PCL processing, text-replacement and "Lua for PDFing" functions have also been eliminated. The "address-list" features in PDFing have been (slightly) reorganized, to allow for the dynamic look-up of printer names. The printing feature of PDFing is very popular and, of course, our customers have now told us what they want. Before downloading PDFing V3.1 please note that ,if all your license-keys were issued before 12th December 2004, then this version of PDFing will only work in "un-licensed" mode. Please do not proceed with installation unless you have a license-key issued on or after 12th December 2004. If you have not yet done so, you should apply your support/upgrade license-key as soon as installation is complete. If you have not purchased a PDFing license-key since this date, you may renew your support contract and receive an upgrade license-key which will allow V3.1 to run in "fully licensed" mode. About 50 percent of PDFing customers have now upgraded to v3.1 and there have been plenty of of new customers.. One of our most recent sales was to a Z/OS user, which required us to write a very simple "Lua for PDFing" script and then a fix the bug that the script showed up! We are always pleased to hear of ideas and suggestions for improving PDFing and, from your correspondence, we know that users of 3.1 have been happy with its peformance and useability. So, for now, we are going to prioritise work on the Excel feature. It seems that learning LuateX is much, much more difficult than it should be, so we will be revising both the "add-in" itself and its documentation. Thank you, David Fowle and Jane Hearn
