PDFING NEWSLETTER NO 17 - November 2005 ======================================= This letter is, in part, an apology for some egregious "bugs" that were introduced into the "NT Service" version of PDFing, when V3.0.0.17 was introduced in May 2005. Various "NT Service" bugs have been reported, which were most apparent in "high-volume" installations, and could result in some spooled-files appearing twice or more in the "grid" and some other spooled-files being omitted entirely. These problems have now been fixed in v3.0.0.21 of PDFing, which is now available from our downloads page at: http://www.dfing.com/down If you only use the "interactive" version of PDFing, then the bugs mentioned above will not be apparent, however we do recommend that you install this latest version as it does contain several minor bug fixes and optimisations. PDFing V3.0.0.21 is probably the last version of PDFing V3 to be released After PDFing v3.1 is released, new features will only be added to V3.1, although V3 will be supported for some months and any new bugs that appear will, of course, be fixed. The beta test of V3.1 has been very successful. Although some of the bugs mentioned above were detected by customers testing PDFing v3.1. However, I would still appreciate some more volunteers for our beta testing team! A list of the new features in v3.1 is available at: http://www.pdfing.com/v31changes.html Finally, I have had several customers asking when PDFing will support "digital-signatures" for PDF files. Apparently this is an issue for customers doing business with large businesses and governments in Europe. Although we will be looking to add this feature some time next year, I would very much appreciate your comments, if you feel that "digital-signatures" are important to you, as this would give me some idea about the priority that we should assign to this feature.
