NEWSLETTER NO 7 - 16th January 2002 =================================== To all our customers worldwide we send our sincere wish for a peaceful and prosperous year. Sales more than doubled in 2001 and PDFingMailer now has registered customers in 20 countries across six continents. We have increased our strong customer bases in North America and Italy, and now have customers in Australia, Japan, Pakistan, Argentina and Eastern Europe too. The NT Service version has been selling well in the last six months and we aim to increase its usefulness by adding new and unique features in the first half of 2002. In August we updated our web site in anticipation of V2, adding more information and also some of our customers' logos, comments and links (with their kind permission). We always endeavor to provide speedy support via email or telephone when the web site is "not enough" and in return we've received very encouraging comments about our service. Thank you to the many ambassadors for PDFing who recommend our products to their colleagues and clients. We continue to receive valuable feedback and suggestions from registered customers, beta-testers and "down-loaders", please, keep them coming! In this issue: ------------------ An Apology PDFingMailer V2.1.0.10 Registration key changes Upgrading from V1.3 to V2 Future features An Apology ---------------- We are sorry to say that beta testing of V2.1 was insufficient, too many errors slipped through testing into the "live" version. We apologise to all users who downloaded V2.1 in December 2001 and January 2002 and encountered problems. We would recommend downloading the latest version (v2.1.0.10) now, particularly if you are running on PDFingMailer on Windows 95/98/ME PDFingMailer V2.1.0.10 ---------------------------------- This release addresses a number of issues of importance to our users. We have made significant changes to the user interface and enhanced functionality to PDFingMailer V2.1, which introduces: * Improved OS400 compatibility - enhanced configuration of remote output-queues to include new special characters. * An improved user interface - the Open function now shows a form within the main window which lists spooled-files at any particular stage of processing. You can now select the spooled-files you wish to see from the check boxes in the panel at the top of the new form. * The NT Service version allows you to secure PDFs with user and master passwords. At the moment this feature is available for "Transformed" spooled-files only. * Improved processing of large *AFPDS spooled-files. * You can now create an Automatic Markup Name, using special characters, in the Convert Page of the configuration program. * You can now use TO: CC: and BCC: prefixes in email addresses, and use the ; (semi-colon) character to delimit addresses as well as the $ (dollar) character. The Message Page now contains a "BCC" (Blind Copy Address) control. * You can now specify disk locations as well as mail addresses in address lists. * A much improved Help File! A more detailed explanation of all these features can be found at http://www.pdfing.com/Down/V21Changes.html Registration key changes ------------------------------------- We hope that you have already received our email detailing the changes to all PDFingMailer registration keys. Future features ---------------------- Developments coming soon include scripting and conversion to Microsoft(r) Excel format. Customers who have purchased the Interactive version and who wish to take advantage of these new features will need to upgrade to the NT Service version, price 200.00USD. We also mean to redesign our web site. We are considering renaming our product to "PDFing 2002" and this change will mean a web site rework is necessary. Regards David Fowle and Jane Hearn
