PDFingMailer Newsletter No. 6 - January 2001 ============================================ VERSION 2 AND NEW WEB-SITE This newsletter introduces our new web-site and the new version of PDFingMailer. It may have been a long time coming, but we hope it is worth the wait! Since our last newsletter, PDFingMailer has continued to sell well and now enjoys worldwide distribution on six continents. We have achieved record sales in July 2001. This success is largely due to you, our customers, spreading the good word about PDFing throughout the web. We have also incorporated many of your useful suggestions into PDFingMailer. Thank you all very much. We've re-built our web-site and included a lot of new material. We hope that this will make understanding and using PDFingMailer easier for existing and new customers. We hope that you will take some time to view it and send us any comments or ideas you may have. You can download PDFingMailer version 2 from http://www.pdfing.com/Down/Downloads.html . For those customers upgrading to version 2, please see http://www.pdfing.com/Down/UpgradeToV2.html . PDFingMailer version 2 includes these new features: Reviewing PDFingMailer processes. 'Bursting' spooled-files into multiple PDFs based on page content. Re-organized configuration and mark-up forms. For more details, see http://www.pdfing.com/Down/V2Changes.html We have had one report of a problem with OS400 v4r5, where "user defined text" was being truncated. This problem has been fixed in both the previous versions (v1.3.0.10) and V2. We are waiting to see if there are any problems with OS400 v5r1 but, as far as we know, no customers have installed this release as yet. We would be very interested to hear of your experiences with v5r1. We have modified our OS400 commands to support the parameters that have been introduced in V2 and previous releases. Command SNDPDFSPLF was previously unable to deal with spooled-files over a certain size. This problem has also been fixed and the latest OS400 source and objects are available for downloading from: http://www.pdfing.com/Downloads.html We are planning new features in future versions, including: POP3 log-in for dial-up ISP users. Markup selection based on text content. AFPDS 'bursting'. ActiveX version for Microsoft Outlook. Thanks again for your interest and encouragement, we hope that PDFingMailer will continue to prove useful. Regards David Fowle and Jane Hearn
